A NEW MILESTONE ON THE ROAD TO A CURE
For more than 20 years the Alfa Insurance® Relay for Life team has honored fighters and celebrated survivors while working to find a cure for cancer.
In 2012, the team set a new pace for fundraising in the River Region by partnering with Jubilee CityFest to host the annual 8k race and 2-mile run. Building on a heritage dating back to the original Jubilee River Run & Goat-Hill Fun Run Road Races in 1979, the Alfa® team added entertainment, children’s activities and exhibits promoting healthy living.
When Jubilee CityFest was discontinued after 2012, the baton was passed to Alfa® and supporting sponsors to continue the race. The event remained the Jubilee Run for Cancer through the 2016 event, when Alfa Relay for Life team leaders formed the Combat Cancer Foundation, a 501 c3 nonprofit organization.
Beginning in 2017, the race for a cure will continue, but as the Combat Cancer Jubilee Run. Held in May each year, the event features an 8k road race through downtown Montgomery, a 2-mile run and a 1-mile Honor/Memory Walk, plus lots of family friendly activities.
Thanks to the support of loyal sponsors and runners, the Combat Cancer Jubilee Run marks a new milestone for cancer awareness and advocacy in the River Region.
